Frequently Asked Questions

At Tight Line Fly Guide our trips are about more than just “catching some fish”, taking a picture and “checking the box” of catching a wild trout in Yosemite. Of course, we strive to do all those things, yet with our guide service “putting you on fish” is merely step one.
We lean into the teaching aspect of the experience. All participants will learn the art of fly fishing if they are paying attention. Our goal is to elevate your fly fishing knowledge and skills with each trip, regardless of your current skill level.
Furthermore we are determined to teach more than one trick, method and presentation. After all, wild trout aren't always breaking the surface to sip dry flies. When you fish with us, you could very well learn, and do it all on the same trip - dries, nymphs, streamers, swinging wet flies and so on.

No. Although some of the water we guide allows for retaining fish, we do not allow or practice retention at Tight Line Fly Guide. Not only do we want the fish to stick around and put on a show for you, I and the next angler, we want them to thrive and reproduce. We hope that after fishing with us you will love and respect wild trout and strive to “keep em wet”!
